Funders and Collaborators
The following institutions and agencies collaborate with us or help fund the Western Maryland AHEC's many projects. They include institutions of higher learning, government agencies, and special grant funders.
The State of Maryland
The State of Maryland funds WMAHEC programs through the Maryland Statewide Medical Education and Training System, administered through the Maryland State AHEC Program at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. WMAHEC also receives Department of Health and Mental Hygiene AHEC funding.
The Maryland State AHEC Program oversees the two AHECs in Maryland.
Institute of Museum & Library Services
The Institute of Museum & Library Services funds Bringing Effective Skills & Technology Together (B.E.S.T.T.), a project providing training and resources regarding technology for rural librarians. In collaboration with University of Souch Carolina School of Medicine and West Virginia Library Association.

The National Network of Libraries of Medicine, Southeastern/Atlantic Region funds Electronic Access to Health Information for the Public: Western Maryland InfoHealth through a contract with the University of Maryland, Baltimore (Contract No. N01-LM-3522).

Quentin N. Burdick Rural Health Interdisciplinary Program funds WMAHEC's Rural Interdisciplinary Health Promotion.

Central Appalachian Health Careers Opportunity Network, a collaborative effort between WMAHEC and West Virginia University, is funded by HCOP.
University of Maryland
The University of Maryland funds geriatrics programming of the WMAHEC through its Geriatrics and Gerontology Education and Research program and through a redeployment initiative.
The University of Maryland School of Medicine has subcontracted WMAHEC to coordinate Maryland Initiative: Covering Kids in Western Maryland. The School of Medicine is coordinating the statewide project, funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
