Western Maryland AHEC is a member of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine and uses DOCLINE, the National Librariy of Medicine's automated interlibrary loan request and referral system. The LRC is also a Loansome Doc library. Health professionals, students, and others may use this service.
To All New Loansome Doc Users:
To order articles listed in MEDLINE via PubMed, you must register as a Loansome Doc user and name Western Maryland AHEC (Library Code MDUCAE) as your primary access library.
When we receive your new Loansome Doc registration, we will email you an agreement to pay fees associated with copying and emailing articles to you. (NOTE: If you are a member of one of our caucuses, we will not charge a fee if the request is filled at AHEC.) If we fill the request at WMAHEC, you will agree to pay $10 per article. If we do not hold the title and send the article to other libraries, you must agree to pay for any fees charged by that library, as well as a 20 percent service fee. (For instance, on an article from another library that costs $11, we will add $2.22 to your invoice.)
You must complete and return this agreement before we will fill any requests.
NOTE: You may specify the limit you are willing to pay on the request form when you submit it. However, you must be willing to pay the minimum of $10 required for the service. Requests indicating "Free" or "Zero" will not be filled.
Affiliated Users (those with a connection to Western Maryland AHEC, as a caucus or board member, for example) will not be charged if the item is filled from our library. If we do not have the title here, other libraries MAY charge.
Unaffiliated Users: For unaffiliated* users, articles provided by our collection will incur a $10 charge to be billed directly to you. Articles that we send on to other libraries MAY incur a charge, in which case we will bill you for that charge, with a 20 percent service fee added.
