Geriatrics and Gerontolgy Education and Research: University of Maryland Baltimore
The University of Maryland Baltimore is home to nationally known interdisciplinary and interprofessional research and education programs and centers in the field of geriatrics and gerontology. Its six professional schools: Dentistry, Law, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and Social Work each provide training opportunities in the field of aging and help foster collaborative approaches to research about and clinical care of older adults.

Administration on Aging
The AOA's website includes information designed for Older Americans and their families as well as those concerned about providing the opportunities and services to enrich the lives of older persons and support their independence. Elder statistical information broken down by age groups. Aging related resources broken down by state, with links to each of these resources.

Administration on Aging The Elderly Nutrition Program
The Administration on Aging’s (AoA) Elderly Nutrition Program (ENP) provides grants to support nutrition services to older people throughout the country.

Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality
AHRQ is in charge of supporting research designed to improve the quality of health care, reduce its cost, and broaden access to essential services.

Alzheimer's Association
The Alzheimer’s Association is the largest national voluntary health organization committed to finding a cure for Alzheimer’s and helping those affected by the disease. The site contains links to updated news releases, a glossary of Alzheimer's related terms, and links to discussion groups among other resources.

Alzheimer's Disease Education and Referral (ADEAR) Center
This site contains information about Alzheimer's disease and related disorders. It contains links to: Alzheimer's Disease publications, other federal resources, a bibliographic database, clinical trails database, and a calendar of events pertaining to Alzheimer's conferences.

American Association of Poison Control Centers
The American Association of Poison Control Centers (AAPCC) is a nationwide organization of poison centers and interested individuals. This site allows you to locate your nearest poison control center. There are also links to data on poisoning, poison prevention and education information, legislation information and rumors on poisonings.

American Cancer Society
This site provides information pertaining to the different types of Cancer, treatment options, research programs, and media resources. Details on radiation therapy and chemotherapy with the option to be placed on a mailing list that provides updated information.

The ACA is a professional organization representing Doctors of Chiropractic. This site has a search engine that searches for Doctors of Chiropractic. There are links to publications, government affairs, products & services, and public relations information pertaining to Chiropractic practices.

American College of Gastroenterology
The American College of Gastroenterology was founded to advance the study and medical treatment of disorders of the gastrointestinal tract. There are links to publications, practice guidelines, meetings & courses, research grants & awards, and other resources on this site.

The American College of Rheumatology (ACR) is the professional organization of rheumatologists and associated health professionals who share a dedication to healing, preventing disability, and curing the more than 100 types of arthritis and related disabling and sometimes fatal disorders of the joints, muscles, and bones. The ADA is the professional association of dentists dedicated to serving both the public and the profession of dentistry.

American Diabetes Association
The American Diabetes Association is the nation's leading nonprofit health organization providing diabetes research, information and advocacy. The site contains links to information pertaining to Diabetes and has links to donation sites, magazines/journals among other resources.

American Dietetic Association
This site has links to nutritional resources, classified ads, government affairs, and a link to a search engine to locate dietitians.

American Geriatrics Society
The AGS promotes high quality, comprehensive and accessible care for America's older population, including those who are chronically ill and disabled. The organization provides leadership to health care professionals, policy makers and the public by developing, implementing and advocating programs in patient care, research, professional and public education, and public policy.

American Heart Association
This is the official site of the American Heart Association. It contains information pertaining to heart attack, heart disease and stroke cases. It provides an easy reference guide for heart and stroke information. It has a list of the warning signs for heart attacks and strokes. Links to family health information are also provided on this website.

American Hospital Association
The American Hospital Association (AHA) is the national organization that represents and serves all types of hospitals, health care networks, and their patients and communities.

American Lung Association
Founded in 1904 to fight tuberculosis, ALA today fights lung disease in all its forms, with special emphasis on asthma, tobacco control and environmental health. The site contains links to information on the various lung related diseases, occupational health school programs, and advocacy, volunteer, and job programs.

FIRSTGOV for Seniors was designed to be a central hub from which seniors can get information on a number of departments including computer, health and consumer protection among others.

Food and Drug Administration
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration's website contains links to information pertaining to health issues related to the consumption of foods, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and tobacco. The site contains a FAQ section that contains information broken down into seven different subcategories.

The Food and Nutrition Information Center (FNIC) is one of several information centers at the National Agricultural Library (NAL), part of the United States Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Agricultural Research Service (ARS). The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services
"CMS provides health insurance for over 74 million Americans through Medicare, Medicaid and SCHIP. In addition to providing health insurance, CMS also performs a number of quality-focused activities, including regulation of laboratory testing (CLIA), development of coverage policies, and quality-of-care improvement. United States Environmental Protection Agency Office of Air and Radiation
EPA's Office of Air and Radiation (OAR) deals with issues that affect the quality of our air and protection from exposure to harmful radiation. OAR develops national programs, technical policies, and regulations for controlling air pollution and radiation exposure.

Weight-control Information Network
