Geriatrics and Gerontology Education and Research Program

University of Maryland, Baltimore.

The six professional schools at the University of Maryland Baltimore: Dentistry, Law, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and Social Work share training and research about aging and the cliniiical care of adults through the Geriatrics and Gerontology Education and Research (GGEAR) Programs. University of Maryland's website is a great source of information about geriatrics and gerontology in Maryland. It links to useful websites, informaiton about geriatrics and gerontology conferences in the Maryland region, and a link to a web-based interdisciplinary case, Mrs. G.

The Western Maryland Area Health Education Center (AHEC) collaborates with the GGEAR program at the University of Maryland Baltimore to provide educational programs and resources to the Western Maryland region.

Working with the AHEC, the GGEAR program provides mini-grants for educatioal projects to meet the needs of older adults in the communities of Western Maryland.

GGEAR funding also supports the acquisition and sharing of educational resources and videotapes on caring for the elderly. For information about print resources, contact Michele Beaulieu.

For a list of videotapes that can be borrowed at no cost (you are responsible for any costs to return the video) please view the Excel spreadsheet:
